Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Finding golfing gifts is straightforward to do, you simply need to grasp where to find ideas. The 1st place that you can look for golfing gifts is in your local golf gift store. Here you may find golf kit, golfing attire, and golfing accessories. You’ll also get help finding the best pieces of kit for your special somebody.

If you do not have time to go to a sporting products store then you also have the choice of shopping on the internet. There are thousands of net stores that you can select from. Here you’ll be capable of finding special gifts that you will not be ready to find in your local stores. Eventually , if you wish to give a personalised present you can make it yourself using your own gifts and talents. Christmas Golfing Present Ideas Xmas is the time of the year that the general public do their present giving.

If you’ve a golfer or a golfing fan on your shopping list then you’ve got a lot of great options to choose from. If you know what your golfer wants then you can simply go to the store and buy that item if you are not sure what your golfer wants then you may wish to purchase a gift token. If you’re buying golfing competition gifts then your prizes will need to change in size and variety. To begin with you’ll need to put together a goody bag for all the contest players. The gifts in this bag should be little and include items like drink coolers, golfing tees, a tournament t-shirt, and food vouchers. If your contest will offer tee prizes then you’ll need to buy medium sized gifts like shirts, jackets, and caps.

For kid golfers look for plastic play golf sets, kid golfing visors, and child-sized golfing attire. For adult golfers consider a pleasant golf shirt, a gift token for a round of golfing, a present certificate for a place like Eye Candy Gift.

Everyone Is Turning 40!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Today is my husband’s birthday. He is 39 years old today, and he’s a bit younger than most of our friends. So that means most of our friends have either turned 40 or will be turning 40 sometime this year. Forty seems to be the BIG BIRTHDAY. Maybe it’s because we’ve spent the last several years celebrating our kids’ birthdays and trying to forget our own. Forty used to be the mid-point of our lives becase most people didn’t live to be 80 years old. That’s no longer true, but a 40th birthday still brings out the black baloons and “Over the Hill” signs.

The most popular gift you give to a 40 year old seems to be ideas for a mini vacation. My 40th is coming up in about 4 months, and several relatives and friends have asked me where we are going to meet to celebrate. The ideas have included New York City, Las Vegas, and a spa retreat. All of these ideas sound great, but no one has offered to pay for these trips! So I guess their gift to me is that they are willing to go with me to the spa!

In the meantime we’ll celebrate my husband’s 39th birthday in our normal way with a little cake a little song and a little fun. Then we’ll start planning and saving for his 40th!

Keeping the Family Organized

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I know, I’m strange. I’m one of those people that loves to organize. I even enjoy watching those organizing shows where the professional organizer takes a chaotic room and transforms it into a lovely, functional space. But, I’m also a real mom with a job, active kids, and a dog to care for. So, on any given day, you could walk into my home and never be able to guess that I love to organize.

But, I love organizing tools – such as shelves, cabinets, canisters, and tote bags. In my garage there’s a laundry basket for all of the baskteballs, volleyballs, any type of balls. Before I purchased the basket, these balls could be found in every room of the house. In other words, wherever my daughter left the ball or wherever my husband kicked it because it was in his way is where it stayed. I would love to be able to tell you that now all of the balls always end up in that basket, but I would be lying to you. However, they do end up there 90% of the time – which is much better than I hoped for. For another example, this summer I invested in a great beach bag. This bag keeps the swim goggles, swim toys, sunscreen, and pool passes. So, when we want to go to the pool, all we have to do is grab the towels and head out the door. I will admit that this bag is great, but the bag itself doesn’t have a home. So, it lives in the hallway where we all walk. But that’s OK. Once school starts, it will find a home out of the way until next summer.

So, I will keep organizing with less than 100% success. But I will also continue to have fun with it, and will enjoy a few corners of organized bliss!

My Daughter’s First Communion

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Last weekend, my youngest daughter celebrated her Firsty Holy Communion. He older sister tends to be the one that takes these ceremonies very seriously, while Kira usually looks forward to the social aspect of the events. But this time she was quite reverent, excited, and mature.

This child is my athlete that lives in sport shorts and t-shirts – the grubbier the better! Needless to say, she wasn’t terribly thrilled with the idea of wearing a pretty white dress. My mother found a very simple dress that she agreed to wear. And we decided that shoes with a heel were not a very good idea, as she tended to walk on the heels alone. So, some simple flats with some knee-high socks were chosen (tights make her itch). The veil was another issue. It couldn’t be too fluffy or frilly. She finally decided that her sister’s veil was OK, since the small decorative bows were in the back where she couldn’t see them. To finish it all off, she wore a lovely heart locket that we gave her as a gift.

While her attire was appropriate and lovely (her three year-old cousin said she looked like a princess), it was not the most important part of the day for her. She truly put the “look” into perspective and focused on the meaning of the celebration itself. It was a lovely day for a lovely girl with a beautiful heart.

A New Life

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

We have a new baby in the family! My brother and his wife have been blessed with a new baby girl. She is the third child in that family with two older brothers. Yes, she will have her work cut out for her! But she is just precious, and we can’t get enough of her.

It always amazes me how much a new baby changes the lives of those around her. A house that was once filled with trucks and dinosaurs now has a fair amount of pink sprinkled in. A little boy who was once the baby of the family is now the infamous middle child. So many people in her family’s community – neighbors, co-workers, friends, family, church members, even aquaintances, are all so eager to meet this new baby, bring a gift, and celebrate this new life.

Babies are the essence of hope, purity and love. And we are so blessed to have this little girl in our lives!
